Privacy Policy
Net Neighbors ("we", "us") is run by Brent Blalock, an individual. Contact: netneighbors.support@gmail.com.
Effective date: November 3, 2026. Version: 2026-11-draft-1.
Net Neighbors is an invite-only app for adults (18 or older) that shows which pickleball players are at which venues. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and your choices. We wrote it to match how the app actually works.
1. What we collect
Account and profile
- Your Sign in with Apple identifier. We ask Apple for no email address and no name, so we do not receive them.
- The display name you enter, your state, your DUPR ID (or the profile link you share from the DUPR app), and the level you say you play at.
- After an admin verifies you: the name and doubles rating shown on your DUPR profile.
- That you confirmed you are 18 or older, and which version of our Terms you accepted.
- The invite code you used and who invited you (members and admins can see who invited whom only through admin tools).
Check-ins
- When you check in (by tapping, or automatically if you turned that on), we store the venue, the time, how it started (tap or automatic), and when it expires or ends.
- Your position, once, at check-in. To confirm you are really at the venue, your phone sends its position (latitude, longitude and how accurate it is) together with a check-in. Our server compares it with the venue's location and does not save it in our database; it is not shown to other members. (Our hosting provider's routine technical logs may briefly record request details.) Leaving a venue sends no position. If you turn on automatic check-in, your phone itself notices when you arrive at or leave a listed venue (the phone watches only the venues in the app), and on arrival sends its position once as above. We never track you anywhere else.
Venue suggestions
- If you suggest a venue, we store what you enter (the venue's name and address, optional details such as indoor or outdoor and the number of courts, a note, and the map location Apple Maps suggested) together with your name, so an administrator can review it. Only administrators see suggestions. They are kept until you delete your account.
- When you search for a place in the suggestion form, what you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matches, under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your location from that search.
Messages and social
- Chat messages you post, with your name and level shown next to them.
- Friend requests and friends, people you block, and reports you make (with the reported text, so admins can act on it).
- Venues you follow.
Games
- If you post or join an open game: which game, when you joined or left, and the venue, time and level range of games you post. Only the people in a game (and its host) can see who is playing; everyone else sees the host's name, the venue, the time, the level range and how many spots are left.
Coaching and tournaments
- If you apply as a coach: your bio, levels you coach, the rate you write, certifications you claim, which venues you coach at, your weekly hours and days off.
- Lesson requests, notes you add, and sessions you sign up for or post.
Notifications
- A push token for your phone (if you allow notifications) and which kinds of alerts you want.
- Your two friend-arrival choices (both off until you switch them on): whether you tell your friends when you arrive somewhere, and whether you get alerts when your friends do; plus any friends you mute. We also keep a short log, for up to 2 days, of which alerts were sent so a friend gets at most one alert about you per day.
On your phone only (not sent to us)
- Your exact location, used by iOS to detect venue arrival and departure. Only the single position sent with a check-in leaves your phone (see section 1, Check-ins).
- Calendar: if you tap "Add to calendar", the app adds an event. It has write-only access and never reads your calendar.
- If you use the Share button in the DUPR app to send us your profile link, the link is held on your phone until you finish sign-up.
What we do not collect
We do not collect contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use the app. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
2. Why we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, show who is at venues, run chat, friends, coaching and tournaments.
- To keep members safe: verify identities and ratings, review reports, remove content and members that break the rules.
- To send the alerts you ask for.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, limits on how fast you can check in or post).
3. Who can see what
- Other members can see, when you are checked in: your name, your level (marked "self-reported" until verified) and the venue. You can pause this in Settings.
- Friends you have allowed can be sent a short push notification, such as "Alex is at [venue]", when you check in somewhere new, only if you turned on "Tell my friends when I arrive" and that friend turned on "Friend arrivals" and has not muted you. Both are off by default. It never happens while you are hidden ("Show me when I'm checked in" off), for people you have blocked, or when a friend is already at that venue.
- Games: the host's name, venue, time and level range are visible to members in your state; the list of players is visible only to the people in that game.
- Other members can see your chat messages in rooms you post in, and your name and level on friend lists and coaching listings you appear in.
- Venue staff and admins can see what members can see. Admins can also see your DUPR ID, who invited you, your reports, and your account details, and they open your DUPR profile link to verify your rating.
- Coaches see your name, level and note when you request a lesson or sign up for a session.
- Venues and clubs can ask us how busy they are. We give them counts only (for example, how many check-ins there were by day and hour over the last 90 days). We do not give clubs names or any other information that identifies a member, and members who turned off "Show me when I'm checked in" are not counted.
- We do not show your exact location to anyone. The one position sent with a check-in is used only to confirm you are at the venue and is not stored.
4. Who we share data with
We use service providers who handle data for us under their own privacy terms:
- Supabase: hosts our database, sign-in sessions and server code. Its servers are in the United States (Ohio).
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, and the Apple Push Notification service to deliver alerts.
- Websites you choose to open from the app (for example a tournament sign-up page or a DUPR profile) are run by other companies and have their own policies.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights. If our business is sold or reorganized, your data could transfer to the new owner under this policy.
Net Neighbors is not affiliated with or endorsed by DUPR.
5. How long we keep it
- Chat messages: shown for 24 hours (level rooms) or 6 hours (venue rooms) and deleted from our servers within 48 hours of posting. A message that someone reports is copied into the report so admins can review it, and that copy is kept for safety.
- Active check-in: ends automatically after 3 hours (tap) or 6 hours (automatic), or when you check out.
- Check-in history: each check-in is deleted 90 days after it happens. Until then it is used for the venue attendance counts described in section 3.
- Profile, friends, coaching and other records: kept until you delete your account.
- Push token: removed when you sign out or delete your account.
6. Your choices
- Sharing your presence: pause it in Settings. Location: turn automatic check-in off in Settings, or change location access in iOS Settings.
- Edit your profile: Settings > Profile. Changing your name or DUPR ID resets verification.
- Notifications: choose the kinds you want in Settings, or turn them off in iOS Settings. Friend arrivals: switch "Tell my friends when I arrive" on or off in Settings, and mute individual friends by swiping their row in Friends.
- Block and report other members from any chat message.
- Delete your account: Settings > Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, check-ins, friends, messages and coaching records. We may keep limited safety records (for example a report about someone else's behavior) where needed to protect other members.
- Ask us anything about your data: email netneighbors.support@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your information; we will honor valid requests.
7. Children
The app is for adults. You must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
8. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access rules so that members can only see what this policy allows. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Tell us promptly at netneighbors.support@gmail.com if you think your account was misused.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
